U.K. Arcadia to Enter Russia
U.K. biggest clothing retailer, Arcadia Group arrives in Russia by pushing its most successful Topshop on the country's market. The U.K. retailer is not the sole operator ready to root in Russia, five big players simultaneously enter this lucrative market now.
Arcadia Group didn’t officially confirm its Russia’s undertaking yesterday, specifying, however, the move is being considered in the company. But indirect confirmation proved more than sufficient Tuesday. One of the shopping malls of Moscow – Mega – is said to have reserved sizeable floor space for Arcadia’s Topshop. It is no secret that Topshop will be promoted by Monex Trading. Although off-the-record, the plans of Topshop launch have been confirmed in Stiles & Riabokobylko/Cushman & Wakefield and in Monex Trading.

The analysts link Arcadia’s arrival to Alshaya Group’s business in the country, as the latter promotes U.K. Body Shop and Next in Russia.

Arcadia Group is not alone in its interest in Russia. About five very strong chain stores, including C&A and H&M, are simultaneously entering the market, said Alexey Volkov, marketing director at Nomenar (S.Oliver chain). The analysts attribute the attack to stable growth of clothing market in Russia, which turnover is around $10 billion, Step-by-Step said. The mid.-price sector (with the average purchase from $30 to $150) is demonstrating the most dynamic advance of between 10 percent and 15 percent on year.
