On September 10, the houses on its outskirts were set on fire and on Sunday, September 11, Tver noblemen and rich merchants came out to beg the “great Prince of Moscovy” for mercy and pledge their obedience to him. The Prince of Tver MIKHAIL BORISOVICH, admitting defeat, fled to Lithuania, taking with him the city treasury. 2001 Today America marks the passing of five years since the terrorists acts of September 11, 2001. For the country, these five years have been an even more difficult trial than the most terrible day in the country's history. During the war that followed the events of September 11, many more Americans have suffered than as a result of the terrorist acts themselves. After a period of incredible unity, America has now split into the few who continue to believe in President Bush and the many more who no longer see him as their leader. What is more, in the past five years the opinion of America held by the rest of the world has changed significantly: once a nation that was seen as a victim of terrorism, the US is now seen by many as a country that is itself to blame for terrorism's spread.
