U.S. Not to Prevent Iran from Developing Nuclear Weapons
Washington won’t halt nuclear weapons’ development by Iran, the U.S. former envoy to the U.N. John Bolton made clear, emphasizing the flaws of the Bush policy in respect of Iran.
Bolton said the U.N. resolution against Iran is “very weak,” AP reported referring to the U.S. media. Washington’s aspiration to unity in the Security Council was in the way of shaping correct policy in respect of Iran.
On Dec. 23, the U.N. Security Council unanimously voted for the resolution against Iran ordering it to stop uranium enrichment both for military and civic purposes and to terminate all projects targeted at production and launch of the nuclear warheads.
The resolution bans Iran from importing/exporting any materials and technology on enrichment or processing of uranium and related to the heavy water reactors. It also prohibits the export/import of any product related to missile delivery systems and freezes assets of some companies and individuals of Iran.
The response of Iran to the U.N. sanctions was the promise to ignore the resolution and proceed with the nuclear program.
The destructive standing of Tehran gives rises to numerous rumors on possible nuclear attack of the United States and Israel on its nuclear facilities. The mass media of Kuwait, for instance, even reported approximate date of the U.S. military action, forecasting it to start till April of 2007 and involve only the Air Forces and Navy.
