Airbus A-320 Parts to be Manufactured in Russia
December 22, On Tuesday, the European aircraft-manufacturing consortium, Airbus, has announced about a 10-year $200 billion contract with Russia’s Irkut, signed during the RF President Vladimir Putin’s visit to Germany. Irkut will manufacture the nose landing, gear bay, keel beam, flap track and a floor grid section for A-320 planes, Gazeta.ru reports.
Right after the signing of the contract Airbus announced its plans to expand the number of its Russian suppliers. A new tender for $150 million for supply of aircraft components will be announced next year.

At the end of November it became known that the Russian companies will be participating in manufacturing Boeing 7E7 Dreamliner. Boeing has already signed a contract with Verkhnaya Salda Metallurgical Production Association (VSMPO) on tripling titan produce export. In the following six years the volume of Boeing purchases from VSMPO for its new aircraft will grow to $2.5 billion.

In 2004 the total volume of production of Russian civil and military aircraft manufacturing equals $5 billion, at the same time Russia has invested only about $100 million into this field, Gazeta.RU reports.
