Breaking Up Demonstration in Tbilisi Is the Start of Bloodshed, State Duma Speaker Said
“It was the start of bloodshed,” Russia’s State Duma Speaker Boris Gryzlov vowed when commenting on the Wednesday actions of Georgian riot police against the opposition rallies.
“What we apprehended has happened,” Gryzlov said when speaking of the current situation in Georgia. He hoped Georgian authorities would change tactics for relations with the people.

The speaker also reminded that “the people of two countries have always felt friendship to each other.” Gryzlov regretted that Georgian authorities had been lashing out at Russia for the recent few years. The United States was behind it, Gryzlov pointed out.

In Tbilisi, the clashes of demonstrators and police continued all day yesterday. As a result, Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili declared the state of emergency for 15 days.

People in the Georgian government accuse Russia's secret services of stirring up the disorder, claiming the opposition leaders were in contact with Russia’s embassy in Tbilisi. Russia’s Foreign Ministry has repelled the accusations.
