Kuznetsova Plays Another Williams in Miami Today
After winning against Venus Williams of the U.S., Russia’s Svetlana Kuznetsova plays her sister, defending champ Serena Williams in the most intriguing semi-final match at the Sony Ericsson Open tennis tournament in Key Biscayne, Florida April 3, 2008. Nikolay Davydenko and Igor Andreev progressed to the quarter-finals in the men’s event.
Russia’s Svetlana Kuznetsova saw off one of the Williams sisters, Venus, in the fourth round Monday but only to face revengeful Serena today. The battle promises to be thrilling. Serena humiliated world number one Belgian Henin Harden in the quarter-finals of the Sony Ericsson Open tennis tournament to make a date with the Russian.

Another semi-final match will be played by Jelena Jankovic, who advanced to it after Elena Dementieva retired with a back injury, and the winner of all-Russian quarter-final between Dinara Safina and Vera Zvonareva

In the men’s event, Russia’s Nikolay Davydenko won over Mario Ancic in three sets (4-6, 6-3, 7-5) to face Janko Tipsarevic today in the quarter-final match. If he prevails, the Russian will have to oppose Rafael Nadal of Spain in the next effort.

In addition to the stunning match of Svetlana Kuznetsova and past year’s champ Serena Williams, another big battle of Thursday is the fight between 2004 Sony Ericsson Open men’s singles champion Andy Roddick and the 2005 winner Roger Federer.
