Kuznetsova Lost Another Final
Russia's Svetlana Kuznetsova lost another final past Sunday. She yielded to Serbia's Ana Ivanovic at the Pacific Life Open tennis tournament in Indian Wells, California. In the men’s section, third seed Novak Djokovic predictably crashed Mardy Fish in the deciding standoff.
Svetlana Kuznetsova was evidently fit for Pacific Open. It wasn’t only that she progressed to the final similar to a year ago, Svetlana stole the show by defeating Maria Sharapova in the semifinal battle. Previously unbeaten in 2008, Maria had already added Australian Open and Doha titles to the winning record this season.

The Russian wasn’t the favorite in the final standoff. Svetlana lost all three matches vs the Serb past year. Besides, judging by the recent statistics, Kuznetsova isn’t at her best exactly in the final competitions. Holder of a few titles, including the 2004 U.S. Open, the Russian looks like a shadow of herself once she advances to the final. Indeed, before the Pacific Open, Kuznetsova had lost two finals this season. The record looks even worth with 2007 achievements taken into consideration. Of eight final matches, Kuznetsova captured the New Haven victory in August of 2007.

Indian Wells proved no exception. Svetlana started not bad at all but she didn’t last long, yielding the ninth game at her serve and loosing the first set as a result. Victorious Ivanovic was much more aggressive and moved quicker to finally triumph over Svetlana (6-4 6-3) and grab the Pacific Open title.
