Medvedev Settles in Kremlin Office
For the first time in new capacity yesterday, Russia’s President-Elect Dmitry Medvedev hosted in the Kremlin the meeting that wasn’t attended by current President Vladimir Putin. In his new office, Medvedev had a tough talk with State Fishery Committee chief Andrei Krainy, FSB Border Guard Service chief Vladimir Pronichev and Federal Customs Service Chief Andrei Belyaminov.
Except Krainy, Belyaminov and Pronichev that had to face the new president, other participants of the meeting took part in it by the video-conference method. Amid them were Murmansk Region’s Governor Yuri Evdokimov, Murmansk Sea Fishing Port General Director Vladimir Sokolov, Murmansk Trawler Fleet Acting Director Nikolay Karlin, Kaliningrad Region’s Vice Governor Yuri Shalimov and Kaliningrad Region’s Deputy Minister for Agriculture and Fishery Maxim Buduratsky.
Medvedev had a single question to all those attending the meeting. The president-elect was willing to know the reason that shelved the orders given by him in time of the regional tours of election campaign.
When running for Russia’s presidency, Medvedev committed the bureaucrats to elaborate special regulations facilitating the check of the vessels in ports. Besides, the president-elect wanted to know the progress in executing his order related to the social guarantees to retired sailors.
The answers of bureaucrats weren’t for the record. The sources say the officials were unable to come up with distinct reports and got a week to clear the faults. Straight after the meeting, the Kremlin press service announced that the State Fishery Committee will release next week the regulations to service vessels in Russia’s ports. The new rules will spell out the service duration of no more than three hours.
