China Doesn't Find Enough Human Rights in U.S.
China has released the Human Rights Record of the United States in 2007. Same as in the previous years, this document is China’s response to the Country Reports on Human Rights Practices of the U.S. Department of State.
The U.S. Department of State promulgated its Human Rights report Tuesday. Of 190 states discussed in the document, a sizeable portion was dedicated to China. Although noting some progress in the human rights there and attributing it to the Olympics preparation, the Department of State again blamed on China the detention of right defenders and journalists, restraint of religious liberty in Tibet, tortures and out-of-court killing.

China rebuffed by its own Human Rights Record of the United States, the very first sentences of which lash out at Washington. According to China’s document, the United States analyses human rights in 190 countries of the world, without mentioning its own problems.

The greatest attention is paid to the U.S. prisons. The United States is the biggest prison of the world, the report says. Racism, sexism and assassination of innocent people in Iraq and Afghanistan aren’t forgotten either.

Regardless, the obvious find of the current edition is the so-called “cash race” at the presidential election. The U.S. election has turned into a toy for the wealthiest, and it proves that the U.S. democracy is in deep crisis now. This year’s presidential campaign has become the most costly in history, which is a clear evidence of the degeneration, the report says.

Of interest is that, of all countries that the Department of State lambasted in Country Reports on Human Rights Practices, China is yet the only one to come up with a truly hard-line response.
