Aliens Not Eager to Go to Russia
The Russians tend to go abroad more often now, while the interest of foreigners in our country is shedding, showed the data that Russia’s statistics authority Rosstat compiled in view of the border-crossing number.
Past year, the Russians left the country 34.2 million times, going to 148 countries of the world. Of them, the private visits accounted for 20.2 million trips (19.3 percent up vs. 2006), tourism covered 9.4 million (up 20.8 percent), and the number of business trips was 2.2 million (7.6 percent down on year).

The aliens, however, didn’t appear particularly eager to go to Russia past year. The number of arrivals was 1.5 fold less than the number of departures of the Russians. Some 22.9 million arrived here from 217 countries of the world. As tourists, the foreigners came 2.2 million times, i.e. four times below the indicator manifested by the Russians (9.4 million).

The number of tourist trips to Russia sank 9 percent vs. 2006. At the same time, the number of private trips manifested a slight growth of 4.3 percent and the number of business trips stepped up 1.1 percent. The number of all foreign arrivals in Russia gained 2 percent, while the number of overseas departures of the Russians soared 18.3 percent. Therefore, similar to the country’s economy, the tourism is the export-targeted here.
