Zhirinovsky's First Campaign Brawl
A fight broke out during the taping of a debate between presidential candidate Vladimir Zhirinovsky and representatives of Andrey Bogdanov at the Star television channel yesterday. LDPR leader Zhirinovsky, dissatisfied with the course of the conversation, struck Bogdanov's representative Nikolay Gotsa several times. In response, Bogdanov's advisors called the police in response.
Gotsa stated during the course of the discussion that Zhirinovsky criticizes legislation introduced by the government into the State Duma and “stays on the side himself and votes against it, and orders his faction to vote for it.” Zhirinovsky yelled insults at Bogdanov's spokesman, them attacked him physically, striking him several times before being restrained by security. After the taping, Gotsa filed a complaint against Zhirinovsky with the police.

In the last presidential election, Zhirinovsky was involved in two similar incidents, once on live television after a representative of the Rodina Party claimed that he had once referred to Israel as his homeland. That time, his intended victim sent him sprawling. Less then a week later, Zhirinovsky was involved in the scuffle involving several people, including Yabloko candidate Sergey Mitrokhin.
