Govt Tossed Siberian Coin
Russia’s Prime Minister Viktor Zubkov inked a ruling to create a gambling zone, Sibirskaya Moneta (Siberian Coin) in Altai. The area of 23 square kilometers will be the third of four reservations where the gambling business is to move after July 1, 2009.
Sibirskaya Moneta is the third gambling zone with borders determined by the government. Similar rulings for creating Azov-City on the border of Krasnodar district and Rostov region and Yantarnaya (the Amber) in Kaliningrad region were released in January. The fourth and the last zone, Primorskaya, is due to appear in Primorsk district.
In line with the laws, whereby gambling areas are to emerge in uninhabited regions, Sibirskaya Moneta is an open country located some 110 kilometers from the nearest railway station, Biisk, and 250 kilometers from the district’s administrative center, Barnaul. The latter is 3,620 kilometers from Moscow.
The regional leaders hope to lure investors into this remote area of Siberia, expecting them to inject at least 30 billion rubles. The authorities stake on investors from Casinos Austria. So far, the money bags of Russia have manifested no interest in this project.
