Sharapova Beats Henin!
Maria Sharapova has beaten the Belgian women's world champion tennis player Justine Henin in the tough quarterfinal match in the Australian Open. The last time Henin had lost was at last year's Wimbledon, 33 matches ago. She beat Sharapova in the final Grand Slam match of last year. This is Sharapova's third win in ten games played against Henin.
Sharapova's chances of winning this tournament are further helped by the fact that American Serena Williams, who beat Sharapova a year ago, is no longer in the running this year either. Sharapova meets Serb Jelena Jankovic next. Sharapova has won three out of the four matches she has played against Jankovic, who just defeated Serena Williams.
There are no more Russians left in the men's competition in Australia. Mikhail Youzhny lost unexpectedly to Frenchmen Jo-Wilfred Tsonga without a single break point in the entire match. Tsonga will now face Spaniard Rafael Nadal, who beat Finn Jarkko Niemenen.
