Dell Launches Store in Moscow
U.S. maker of computers, Dell opens a mono-brand store in Russia and launches sales via M.Video chain stores. The analysts expect these efforts of Dell on retail market of our country to fuel its stocks, which quotes shed 1.5 fold from 2005.
Dell’s store will open on the second floor of Gorbushkin Dvor sales center of Moscow in early October. It will offer notebooks, PCs, servers, printers and other product of Dell. According to company’s CEO Michael Dell, the store will sell no other brands and emerge as the second store of the kind in Europe; the first one is located in Bucharest.

Mr Dell said the store is the first move of the company to promote its product on Russia’s market; M.Video will have PCs and notebooks of Dell next week. Dell is also currently in talks with a few other players, Mr Dell pointed out, without giving details.

Michael Dell founded Dell in 1984. At that time, its authorized capital was just $1,000. By the fiscal results of 2006, Dell posted aggregate sales of $55.9 billion, up 14 percent on year, while the net profits stood at $3.5 billion.

Launching mono-brand stores is already a matter of tradition in Russia, commented Eldar Murtazin, who is a leading analyst at Mobile Research Group. The first shops emerged five years ago, but those were mostly the stores of cell stores - Nokia and Samsung. As to computer companies, only Apple has a mono-brand here.
