Rosneft Passes Gazprom in Platts Rating
Platts, the international pricing agency, has published its annual Top 250 Global Energy Companies rating. The number of Russian companies in the rating has almost doubled and they top the list of the fastest-growing companies. Platts forms its ranking on the basis of revenue, assets, net profit and profit on investment. Nine Russian companies are present in this year's rating (up from five last year).
The newcomers to the list are Rosneft (16th place), Surgutneftegaz (29th), Transneft (68th), Tatneft (84th) and NOVATEK (187th). Mosenergo disappeared from the rating. LUKOIL is the highest ranked Russian company (12th place, up from 15th last year). Platt rated debuting Rosneft higher than Gazprom (17th place, up from 19th last year).
Only RAO UES of Russia placed worse this year than last. It plummeted from 75th place to 111th. At the same time, it came in second, after the Zimbabwean Hwange Colliery Co., in the rate of revenue growth in three years. According to Platts, RAO's revenue grew 144.07 percent in three years. Rosneft also made an impressive showing (9th place) in this category with 87.54-percent growth in that period. NOVATEK is in 20th place (+47.08%), Gazprom Neft is in 22th place (+44.9%) and LUKOIL is in 28th place (+41.34%)
