Estonia Willing to Help Georgia in Missile Probe
Estonian military experts on Friday went to Tbilisi to help Georgia investigate the alleged Russian missile strike.
Estonia is sending to Georgia Brigadier General Vello Loemaa, military attaché to the United States who earlier served as the country’s Air Force commander, and Lieutenant Mart Magia, a radar stations specialist. Estonian specialists, however, are likely to come to Tbilisi too late. Georgian Foreign Minister Gela Bezhuashvili said Thursday that an international group with experts from Latvia, Lithuania, Sweden and the United States finished the probe and proved Tbilisi’s theory that Russia had violated Georgian air space dropping a missile which did not explode.
Tallinn, however, does not seem to mind that the probe is officially over. Even if Estonian experts do not find any ways to clarify the situation, they may as well share experience with their Georgian counterparts on conflict resolution with Russia, which may prove to be even more valuable. Estonia went through a major crisis with Russia over a war memorial in spring.
