State Service Academy Prescribes Patriotism to Parties
// To win the State Duma election
The success of this or that political party will depend on patriotic directives in its campaign program for the upcoming election to the State Duma of Russia. It is the conclusion made by the experts of the Russian State Service Academy, who researched the pre-election sentiments of Russian citizens.
The Russian State Service Academy (RSSA) published on Wednesday the results of its research of the citizens’ pre-election sentiments. According to the poll, the five most popular parties are United Russia (31.4 percent), KPRF (Russia’s Communist Party) (10.2 percent), Fair Russia (6.9 percent), LDPR (Liberal-Democratic Party) (5.2 percent), and Patriots of Russia (5.1 percent).
However, RSSA polling results differ significantly from the data published monthly by the VCIOM (the All-Russian Public Opinion Research Center) and Levada-Center. The latter two never listed Patriots of Russia among the top five parties (it never got more than 1 percent), while United Russia always received higher level of voter support.
Yet, the RSSA explains Patriots’ unexpected success by the fact that the Russian society displays “mass interest to patriotic ideas, slogans, and actions”. Thus, the RSSA informed the political parties which intend to take part in the 2007 election that “the convincing articulation of this interest during the campaign is one of the best ways to win voter support”.
