Aircraft Spare Parts Made in Car Garage
// Suppliers of counterfeited aircraft spare parts were arrested
Officers of Russia’s Interior Ministry and of the regional Interior Affairs Department arrested 6 members of a criminal group in Rybinsk (Yaroslavl region). The criminals dealt with stealing the spare parts for Tu-154 and Il-76 aircraft engines from a local enterprise, Saturn. Then they refined the stolen details in non-factory conditions, and sold them to Russia’s air companies and aircraft-repair enterprises.
Officers of Russia’s Interior Ministry and of the regional Interior Affairs Department arrested 6 members of a criminal group in Rybinsk (Yaroslavl region). The group consisted of former and current workers of Saturn, a local enterprise for assembling aircraft spare parts.

According to preliminary data, the workers stole the spare parts from the factory’s repair fund and from the enterprises responsible for the processing of spoiled and low-quality products. Then, they made the spare parts look like those of good quality, draw identification numbers on them, and sold them together with false documents.

The investigators are now working to detect the air companies which were buying the counterfeited spare parts and installing them on their aircrafts. Meanwhile, a criminal case against the arrested workers was initiated according to Article 158 of the Criminal Code of Russia.
