Aeroflot Dips Rosneft in Kerosene
Aeroflot and Rosneft signed a general agreement on a strategic partnership to build fuelling complexes in Russian airports, according to a joint press release issued yesterday. Rosneft so far has not had a presence on that market, which is worth 90 billion rubles per year. Industry analysts note, however, that the task, while potentially attractive, will be complicated.
Aeroflot deputy general director Lev Koshlyakov told Kommersant that Rosneft will not be the airline's exclusive supplier. “We already worked with Rosneft,” Koshlyakov noted. “and we have the same agreement with LUKOIL and other oil companies. They offer a more flexible pricing policy for kerosene.”
Aeroflot an spokesman said that the statement in the press release that “the agreement foresees the possibility of joint participation by the parties in the creation of fuelling complexes in Russian airports” is “mainly declarative at present” and projects with that goal are at the stage of “a business idea.”
Koshlyakov said that “A number of such projects are being developed in connection with out interest in a number of regional airports. Consequently, there may be steps toward creating a competitive atmosphere on the aviation fuel market.”
