Microsoft and Kommersant to Launch MSN in Russia
The Microsoft Corp. announced on Friday the launch of the MSN portal in Russia, which is to become one of the three top servers on the Russian Internet within three years. The news content for Russian MSN will be provided by Kommersant Publishing House, Reuters and AP. The portal will allow users to read news, create blogs, exchange messages, send and receive e-mail and search the web.
“The volume of the Russian Internet advertising market in 2006 was $210 million, and we expect it to be the fourth largest in Europe in a few years, after Germany, Great Britain and France,” commented MSN general manager for Europe, the Middle East and Africa Geoff Sutton. “Therefore, it is important for us to get a foothold in Russia.”
