Presidential Horserace in Rostov
Russian President Vladimir Putin and his guests, the presidents of Armenia, Azerbaijan, Moldova, Uzbekistan and Venezuela, were in Rostov-on-Don Saturday for the presidential horserace at the Rostov hippodrome, which is soon to be demolished.
Agriculture Minister Alexey Gordeev, President of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov, Rostov Regional Governor Vladimir Chub, presidential representative for the Southern District Dmitry Kozak, Stavropol Territory Governor Alexander Chernogorov and President of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev were also among those present.

Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez attended the races with his wife, daughter and two granddaughters. Cossack performers warmed up the crowd before the race.

The same day, Putin attended the Russian Field Festival to mark the beginning of the wheat harvest. He was accompanied by First Deputy Prime Minister Sergey Ivanov. They test drove a Rostselmash combine and a car that runs on biofuel.
