Khoroshkovsky Creates New Media Giant in Ukraine
RosUkrEnergo co-owner Dmitry Firtash is pulling out of the media business. His TV channels - K1, K2 and Megasport – went to U.A. Inter Media Group Ltd, said Valery Khoroshkovsky, the principal co-owner of Inter. As to Firtash, he will focus on the real estate, chemical and oil and gas assets of his group.
Ukraine’s Independent TV-Corporation, or Inter TV Channel, is the biggest TV company in the country and a member of nominal holding of roughly 70 companies, including Enter Film and Enter Music.
Inter covers 96 percent of Ukraine. Valery Khoroshkovsky is the owner of 61 percent in it, Russia’s ORT has 29 percent and Svetlana Pluzhnikova owns 10 percent.
According to Khoroshkovsky, who chairs Inter Supervisory Board, the deal for the acquisition of K1, K2 and Megasport was closed yesterday. The companies were acquired via Ukraine’s Prime Media Group and went to the Cyprus-registered U. A. Inter Media Group Ltd.
“I’m the end owner of Cyprus company. In addition to K1, K2 and Megasport, the group will unite Enter Film, Enter Music, 61 percent in Inter and, indirectly via the Ukrainian company, all firms affiliated with Inter,” Khoroshkovsky explained, refusing, however, to disclose the deal budget.
