Customs Makes Concessions
// The ban on bio-samples export will be reconsidered
Head of the Federal Customs Service (FTS) Andrei Belyaninov explained on Friday the reasons why the export of human bio-samples from Russia had been banned: the FTS wants to restrict the illegal trading of human organs and tissues. FTS head said that new rules for exporting biomaterials will be introduced soon. The official promised that the organizations working with bio-samples legally “will not suffer of the customs’ actions”.
The Federal Customs Service (FTS) gave comments on Friday to the scandal around the ban on exporting human bio-samples (like tissue samples, blood, hair, nails) from Russia.

FTS head Andrei Belyaninov said it is not a ban, but an introduction of “some restrictions”. Then, he disclosed the reason for the decision: “The existing order allows uncontrolled cross-border movement of human organs and tissues. There is enormous market for selling them.”

The official said that medical companies will not suffer inconveniences due to the new regulations. “The customs will let pass in the priority order the bio-samples necessary for giving urgent medical aid,” Belyaninov promised.
