Global Growth Companies to Gather in China in September
Organizers of the World Economic Forum in Davos have set up a discussion workshop for Global Growth Companies in Dalian, China, on September 6-8, which has already been dubbed a “Summer Davos”. The participation in the forum will help the companies to increase their capitalization, while bigger companies will have an opportunity to eye their would-be partners or acquisitions.
Organized together with the Chinese government, the gathering will focus on the role that new and fast-emerging multinational companies are playing in rapidly changing global business.

The World Economic Forum has established a selection committee of chief executives from member companies to help identify the Global Growth Companies. Business leaders will be joined by international political figures, heads of the world’s most competitive cities and fastest-growing regions to exchange ideas and share new perspectives.

“While the main theme in Davos was the shifting power equation, Dalian will be an opportunity to find out how emerging global players are doing exactly that: changing the competitive landscape, reshaping business and transforming society,” said Peter Torreele, managing director at the World Economic Forum and responsible for the Dalian program. “In Dalian, participants will get a clear perspective on how current trends are shaping the future of business.”

Russian experts say that the forum of emerging businesses is particularly significant because these companies fostser the development of their national economies. Ruben Vardanyan, president of the Troika Dialog investment firm, is sure that that “Russian companies need to be involved in this international process.” “When Alexey Mordashev arrived in Davos in 1999 his Severstal was quite a moderate company compared to state-owned giants,” Mr. Vardanyan told Kommersant. “But now it is a global steel leader.”
