Living of No Quality Label
In terms of living quality, Russia’s cities are very far from the world leaders, showed the rating report released by Mercer Human Resource Consulting in April.
The survey of 215 cities worldwide used New York as the standard for comparison. The living quality was evaluated in view of 40 indicators, including safety, political stability, economic welfare, availability of bank services, transport services and most required goods. Attention was also paid to environment, housing conditions, availability and quality of health care and so on.
No drastic changes happened during a year – 20 top cities maintained their positions. The leaders are Swiss Zurich and Geneva and Canada’s Vancouver is the last of the trio. It is followed by Austrian Vienna, while Auckland of New Zealand is the fifth.
Same as a year ago, Japan is the only Asian state amid the top 50. Of interest is that New York, which is used for reference, is just the 48th.
Of 215 cities of the world, Moscow failed to climb above the 201st position in living quality, though it was No. 1 in the cost of living report that Mercer released past summer. Russia’s capital is well behind St. Petersburg (184th), Novosibirsk (182nd) and Kazan (174th).
