Hardly Tax Competent
Over 65 percent of directors of Russia’s enterprises haven’t read the Tax Code, and 60 percent are interested only in final amount paid by their companies to the budget. Moreover, 30 percent think any means will do to minimize taxes, showed the survey of professional accounting journals.
The survey of Glavbukh (Chief Accountant) and Uchet. Nalogi. Pravo (Accounting. Taxes. Law) journals covered 2,640 chief accountants, prompting them to anonymously assess tax knowledge of directors and the extent of their good sense in fiscal issues.
The tax IQ of directors averaged 51 points of 100 possible, as many as 65 percent of them have never opened the Tax Code. The average tax judiciousness proved a bit higher, reaching 57 points of a hundred maximum. Chief accountants said 55 percent will clinch a big deal without discussing all tax consequences with financial service, and 30 percent of directors think any means will do to trim taxes.
The conclusion of this rather general survey is definite – chief accountants shouldn’t be stripped off the right to seal financial documents. But exactly this novelty is clearly spelled out in Official Accounting Bill that Finance Ministry is elaborating.
