Trading at MICEX Closes with a Technical Failure
Trading at the MICEX stock exchange closed three minutes earlier due to a technical failure, in the second glitch at MICEX trading floors over the past eight days. Analysts say, though, that the failure has not affected the market.
Trading at the MICEX was halted three minutes before the official close on Thursday. The shutdown came as a failure at Ekvant, one of communications providers of the stock exchange. Ekvant said the failure was due to a glitch in the telephone network. Service has been fully restored.
This is the second technical failure at a MICEX trading floor in the last eight days. Trading at the MICEX currency exchange was halted on April 12 due to record-high trading activity.
However, experts say that the session was stopped when there was no trading on the market as few players leave their deals to be finalized in the last minutes.
