250mln Rubles to Be Appropriated to Prepare for Beijing Olympics
Olympic Committee of Russia hosted a meeting of Beijing 2008 Olympics Preparation Staff. As it turned out, All-Russian Association of Summer Sports will appropriate 250 million rubles to get ready for Olympics, including 200 million to buy sports equipment and facilities. Of interest is that only 27 million rubles was spent to prepare for Athens Olympic Games held in 2004.
The concept of final preparation stage for Beijing Olympics has been shaped by all Summer Sports Federations, said Vladimir Derevyanko, the expert of Staff’s Main Department. The applications for respective facilities have been filed already and sport bases, including Moscow Region’s Novogorsk and Ozero Krugloe (the Krugloe Lake) are being equipped at accelerated pace. Another concern of authorities discussed at the meeting is to avoid mistakes made when buying equipment and facilities in the past years.
