US Guards Relations with North Korea
// North Korean diplomat has US secret service bodyguards
US-North Korea talks on improving bilateral relations began in New York on Tuesday. US mass media said these are “landmark” negotiations, for they will decide how the process of North Korea’s nuclear disarmament goes.
North Korea’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Kim Gye Gwan and US Assistant Secretary of State Christopher Hill are taking part in negotiations in New York. North Korea has agreed to begin nuclear disarmament in exchange for unprecedented concessions from the U.S., that promised to consider lifting financial and economic sanctions off Korea, and improving relations.

Apparently, Washington is laying big hopes on Gye Gwan’s visit. The North Korean diplomat is accompanied by US secret service bodyguards, who usually guard only most important foreign guests.

Korea’s chief demands to Washington include taking it off the list of terrorism-allied countries, and lifting economic sanctions. In response, Hill suggested that Pyongyang improve the human rights situation, and stop the illegal international drug-trafficking and missile-weapons sale.
