Nemiroff Joins Olympic Battle
The Olympic Committee of Russia vowed yesterday to choose in a week a company to equip the national team at Beijing Olympics of 2008 and Vancouver Olympics of 2010. Though the official bidders are Russia’s Bosco Sport and Bondi of Pierre Cardin, Ukrainian Nemiroff is said to have joined the battle.
Three companies filed the bids to provide uniform to the national squad of Russia at Beijing Olympics of 2008 and Vancouver Olympics of 2010. They are today’s partner of the team Bosco Sport, Bondi that represents French designer Pierre Cardin in Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan and Tadjikistan and Chinese Keene Co., said Gennady Shvets, the briefer of Olympic Committee of Russia (OCR).
As the bid of Keene Co. proved noncompetitive, OCR will decide between the remaining contenders – Boscow and Bondi – during a week, Shvets specified.
But the sources familiar with the situation say it is not Bondi but rather Ukrainian producer of vodka, Nemiroff, that is fighting for the deal. The Ukrainians will launch production of sportswear once they get the license of Bondi.
Bondi is in talks with Nemiroff, said Bondi General Director Galina Kuznetsova. “The Ukrainians may buy the license for sportswear production under Pierre Cardin brand.”
In Nemiroff’s PR department, they were unable to comment on the spot. But PR Manager Natalia Konovalova specified that the company’s CEO Alexander Glus has been long on friendly footing with Pierre Cardin.
The final choice of supplier depends on the financial terms offered by Bosco and Bondi. “Under the agreement, Bosco has the right to outbid the money offer to remain the uniform supplier,” Shvets explained.
