Haim Ramon Found Guilty of Too Deep Kiss
Tel-Aviv’s court yesterday found former Israeli Justice Minister Haim Ramon guilty of sexual harassment. The court’s ruling shocked Israeli political elite that expected a not-guilty verdict. Analysts believe that serious reshufflement awaits Israel’s cabinet of ministers.
Former Israeli Justice Minister Haim Ramon faced sexual harassment charges after kissing an 18-year old army woman who worked in the ministry’s office. Ramon’s lawyers claim that the girl flirted with the minister, giving him her phone number and suggesting going on holiday together.
However, judges took the prosecution’s side, shocking Israeli political elite. Some politicians expressed regrets upon the verdict, and others openly criticized the court, saying that it went along with popular feminism.
The court will gather again soon to deliver sentence to former minister. Ramon might get up to three years of imprisonment. He is expected t contest the verdict in district court. Yet, the process will last several months, which will actually kill his political career.
