Aston Martin Drives in Russia under Sail
Businessmen Andrey Boiko and Andrey Lomakin, who control AG Marine (sale and service of elite yachts), will distribute Aston Martin in Russia starting from the next year. So far, Aston Martin has been the sole global luxury brand not represented on the national car market.
Andrey Lomakin said they sealed respective documents with Britain’s division of Ford September 20 and set up Aston Martin Co. not long ago. In March of 2007, the latter will rent premises in the downtown Moscow to arrange a showroom there. The service center will be located near the Shchukinskaya metro.
At the same time, the importer will set to constructing its own showroom to launch it in 2008 to 2009. The clients will get first Aston Martins in May, and the plans are to sell 27 cars here next year. But the quota may step up to from 40 cars to 50 cars following the demand. The models to be supplied to Russia are V8 Vantage (from ˆ145,000), DB 9 (from ˆ205,000) and Vanquish (from ˆ345,000).
So, over a year’s standoff of Russia’s dealers for the right to distribute Aston Martin here finally came to an end. So far, Aston Martin has been the sole luxury brand not represented in Russia. Fifteen companies, including Mercury (Bentley, Ferrari, Maserati and Lamborghini), Musa Motors (Rolls-Royce), ABEC (Lotus), Bosco, Rolf and Avtodrom, were bidding to represent it from summer of 2005. But Aston Martin favored Oleg Boiko, whose business isn’t related to cars.
