Audi to Construct Automobile Centers in Russia
Audi AG intends to construct here a chain of its own automobile centers to lease them to big car retailers in the next move. For Audi, this pioneering project will mean promotion in regions and a share in lucrative business of dealers.
Russia’s office of Audit has set to creating its own chain of dealer centers in Russia. Audi of Russia will begin by constructing satellite centers (costing no more than $5 million) and bigger hangars ($15 million to $25 million). In the next move, it will lease ready facilities to big dealers, including Rolf, Major-Auto or Gema.
Though the budget hasn’t been fixed yet, the sources forecast it to reach $100 million, which is comparable to establishing assembly production facilities of 25,000-car capacity.
In 2008, the project will be launched in the regions neglected by independent dealers of Audi. Indeed, even a big dealer will hardly construct centers in a town with low demand for cars costing from $60,000 to $70,000. By constructing facilities, Audi of Russia hopes to dominate by time when the annual demand for premium cars there reaches 1,000 (the average sales of Moscow dealer of Audi).
