For sportscaster Viktor Gusev, it is not the first Bronze Orpheus of TEFI. But it is for the first time that Gusev shares it with film director Nikita Mikhalkov.

The Bronze Light of TV
The first prizes of 12th National TV Award of Russia, TEFI (TV Air), were granted to laureates in the International House of Music past Friday. Similar to the previous year, academicians voted openly and directly to avoid the collusion accusations.
For the second year in a row, the TV Academy of Russia votes openly and directly on the TEFI Bronze Orpheus in an effort to avoid the collusion charges. But the number of voters was unusually low this year. Of 127 academicians, only 68 duly attended the first day of voting. NTV was represented by its chief designer Sergey Shanovich (General Director Vladimir Kulistikov traditionally ignored the event) and Oleg Dobrodeev, general director of Rossia Channel, didn’t show up either.
The main intrigue was the Information & Analytical Program nomination with Vesti Nedeli (News of the Week; Rossia) and Nedelya s Mariannoi Maksimovskoi (A Week with Marianna Maksimovskaya; Ren TV) as the frontrunners. The Ren TV's program is the sole summarizing undertaking on Russia’s TV, which interpretation of events differs from the state point of view and which hosts guests banned to appear on federal TV channels long ago. The number of votes was equal initially, but the Bronze Orpheus went to Vesti Nedeli by re-voting results.
Another success of Rossia was the triumph of Velikaya Taina Vody (The Great Mystery of Water) documentary by Anastasia Popova, where TEFI was awarded to the film, its director and cameraman.
Of all 27 nominations, producers of Amedia Co. and STS gathered the greatest number of votes (10 from 12) for the most successful serial of the year – Ne Rodis Krasivoi (Don’t Be Born a Beauty) tribute to the Cinderella fairy tale.
The academicians are yet to distribute the remaining 15 statuettes. So far, Rossia is the obvious winner (12 Bronze Orpheus statuettes), while Channel 1 has nine statuettes and Culture and STS won three awards each.
