Russian Nations Exhibited in China
Russia’s culture chief Mikhail Shvydkoy has promised ˆ10 million to hold the Year of China in Russia, summing up results of the Year of Russia in China. Russia has opened two fascinating exhibitions in Beijing with treasures from the Kremlin and the Parade of Nations to close the festivities.
Russia is to host over 50 Chinese cultural events next year, including performances of the Shanghai Grand Theater, Beijing Opera, circus and film festival, the head of the Russian Federal Culture and Film Agency has reported.

Russia has closed the Year of Russia in China with two exhibitions. Rare items from the Moscow Kremlin were displayed in the Forbidden City, the former imperial palace. The Golden Russian exhibition gives an overview of the Russian history with 200 exhibits on display, dating from the 16th to the 20th century. The items range from icons and embroidery to weapons, orders and even samovars. Belonging of royal personalities are a particular favorite, such as a hat with golden threads of Tsarina Anastasia, Ivan the Terrible’s wife. Muskovites also brought a Faberge Easter egg dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the Romanov dynasty with a miniature globe inside.

The Parade of Nations exhibition of the Ethnography Museum in St. Petersburg with 1,000 exhibits is no less impressive. It is held at Beijing’s new Millennium Art Museum, the first museum of foreign art in the country.

The museum building is made as a giant sun-dial. The round shape perfectly matches the exhibition from St. Petersburg. Mannequins dressed as various nations of the former Russian empire make a perfect circle. Almost all nationalities can be found at the exhibition– from Bukhara Jews to mountain Tajiks, standing next to each other.
