China to Use Chubais Electricity
RAO UES of Russia and the State Grid Corp. of China will seal November 9 an agreement on electric energy export of up to 60 bln kWh. China will import it from Bureisk Hydroelectric Power Station till 2010 and probably invest in the projects in Russia’s Far East after that date.
RAO UES of Russia and the State Grid Corp. of China will seal two agreements on electric energy export to China during the Chinese visit of Russia’s Premier Mikhail Fradkov that is slated for November 9 to November 10, said a source with the delegation that prepares the tour of Fradkov.

The first agreement will spell out guidelines for exporting Russia’s electric energy to China; the second document will be a contract for selling the power energy generated by Bureisk Hydroelectric Power Station as the first stage of the project.

Under the project, the source said, China will be annually getting from 3.6 bln kWh to 4.3 bln kWh starting from 2008. At the second stage, which is slated to begin in 2010, the export will step up to 18 bln kWh, while the third stage provides for exporting up to 38.4 bln kWh from 2015 with further growth up to 60 bln kWh.

Nowadays, the electric energy of Russia flows to China via the export subsidiary of RAO UES and Rosenergoatom, Inter RAO UES. The amount was 492 mln kWh past year and is expected to reach 833 mln kWh this year.
