Could It Be You, Mikhal Mikhalych?
In Yaroslavl, Russia’s former premier and today’s leader of People’s Democratic Union Mikhail Kasyanov was urged to immediately launch the presidential campaign. Kasyanov followed the advice and moved closer to the nation.
The Yaroslavl tour of Kasyanov ended yesterday, November 1. On Tuesday, the former prime minister was busy meeting local activists of People’s Democratic Union. “The situation is as follows,” Kasyanov briefed the regional supporters. “There is no need to do anything for State Duma’s elections,” he said, explaining that those elections won’t be elections at all, as authorities have registered no independent parties and won’t let them take part in the ballot.
In today’s Russia fortunately, the presidential elections are held from time to time in addition to electing the State Duma. “We will take this chance,” Kasyanov vowed. The winner will be the sole candidate of opposition, the leader said, setting abuzz his supporters, who easily guessed the name of the runner.
Once no doubts were left, the activists called on the candidate to get down to business, i.e. launch the election campaign as soon as possible. Kasyanov promised to come up with the actions program in the nearest month or two.
“I confirm I’m ready to run for presidency,” he emphasized and went to the common people the next morning, choosing a trolley-buss for this purpose for some reason unknown.
“Could it be you, Mikhal Mikhalych?” a local pensioner said in utter disbelief. “No one would ever believe I was going by trolley with Kasyanov!”
