TNK-BP Not Recognized as of Russia’s Origin
There will be no TNK-BP amidst the holders of a Russian company that will get 51 percent in the project to construct Bourgas-Alexandropoulos oil pipeline. Aimed at attaining control over the transport flows in southern Europe, Russia trusts only the state companies to take part in the project.
Russia will have 51 percent in the project for constructing an oil pipeline between Bulgaria’s Bourgas and Alexandropoulos of Greece, it was announced yesterday. Transneft will share it equally with Gazprom Neft and Rosneft, Transneft CEO Semen Vainshtok said.
The respective intergovernmental agreement has been drafted already. Russia, Greece and Bulgaria are expected to sign the document before late this year, Vainshtok specified.
The project doesn’t mention Russia’s-Britain’s TNK-BP that has recently acted as its coordinator. But the company still hopes to get 25 percent of the remaining 49 percent, said TNK-BP President Robert Dudley. For this purpose, it should agree on buying out either the stake of Greece or Bulgaria.
Bourgas-Alexandropoulos pipeline will run for 285 kilometers and have the annual capacity of 35 million tons with the possible extension to 50 million tons. The project investments are estimated at $900 million.
