Russia Has Its Own iTunes Now
Russia’s first download service to directly and legally sell MP3 and video content was set to motion once Zvuki.Ru music portal and Softkey.ru online software store launched their joint project - Soundkey.ru.
Though Soundkey.ru offers legal MP3 music and other multimedia content, the key sales are expected to be made via other sites - Rambler.ru and Zvuki.ru, while Jazz.ru is likely to join the league in the near time.

Any popular website may benefit from the music downloads. Displaying a window of the Internet store will yield 20 percent of the revenues to it. As to musicians and right holders, they will be getting 60 percent of the generated funds. The percent will go up to 80 provided their websites display window of Soundkey.ru.

As much as $150,000 has been invested in the project this year and the amount will be going up, said Sofia Sokolova, who is the general director of Soundkey. Nowadays, Soundkey.ru cooperates with Sony BMG Music Entertainment. Attraction of other majors will depend on actual performance of the download facility, Sokolova explained.
