Providing Medical Assistance to President
In Russia, the key problem of public health service is that it has acquired the status of national program. At least exactly this conclusion could be reached after the sitting of the State Council’s Presidium held by President Vladimir Putin in Kurgan Monday.
The yesterday’s concern of Russia’s State Council’s Presidium was the public health service in the country. In an effort to address this problem, the Presidium staged its meeting in Kurgan, Russia, and the get-together was duly attended by President Vladimir Putin and Public Health Minister Mikhail Zurabov.

Putin couldn’t be called a frequent guest in Kurgan (it was his first tour to the town actually), so the municipal authorities were all set to get ready for welcoming the important visitor.

The number of fire engines in the town was impressive. Moreover, a train set of cars could be seen nearby. It was a mobile hospital, Surgeon Nikolay Pirogov, which belongs to RZD and consists of eight cars rendering medical services, including even the fibroesophagogastroduodenoscopy.

An inquisitive man, Putin couldn’t help stepping into the hospital. The president had his pulse and blood pressure checked there but avoided further examination.

As to the public health in Russia, Putin’s initiative to make it a national program was well-timed, Public Health Minister Mikhail Zurabov told the State Council’s Presidium. But according to the minister, the actual essence of structural changes to be made under the program is yet unclear. The facts will fall into place no sooner than ten regions of Russia carry out some experiments and a model law is elaborated on their results. It looked as if yesterday Zurabov were miles from setting the public health into motion.
