Southern Russia Shares Its Investment Success
Russian President Vladimir Putin has visited the Kuban Economic Forum predicting an investment boom in Russia. However, participants of the forum are sure that it will happen no earlier than in 10 years.
The Kuban Economic Forum was held at the Winter Theater in Sochi. The forum welcomed state official as well as overseas investors who have special interests in Sochi which contends to host a winter Olympic Games.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said he would be happy if Sochi becomes the Olympic Capital; if not, the city authorities should “take this chance to modernize it for our citizens.”

Alexander Tkachev, governor of Krasnodar Region, spoke at the forum explaining the investment success of his region: “Kuban’s investment policy is successful because authority serves business.Only functionaries who think like businessmen can change the investment climate in the area.”

Economic Development and Trade Minister German Gref offered overseas investors to become “venture capitalist of the Russian economy.” Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Zhukov said that German Gref’s initiatives to encourage investment must cause a real investment boom within the next ten years.
