YUKOS Prosecutors Lose Jobs
State Prosecutor Dmitry Shokhin who took part in the Mikhail Khodorkovsky case has lost the job of the head of the state prosecutors department at the Prosecutor General’s Office. Prosecutor Kamil Kashaev who worked on two trials against YUKOS’s security employee Alexey Pichugin has been fired as the deputy head of another department. Experts say that Yury Chaika’s team has decided to get rid of infamous personalities of the former Prosecutor General’s entourage.
According to unofficial information from the Prosecutor General’s office, Dmitry Shokhin and Kamil Kashaev lost their jobs because of an overhaul at their departments by Deputy Prosecutor General Alexander Buksman. Posts of the two prosecutors have been abolished.

Kamil Kashaev told Kommersant that he was going to go back to work after vacation. Now he has no information about his future. Prosecutor Dmitry Shokhin declined to comment on his dismissal. Unofficial sources say he is going to obtain a position at the Moscow Region Prosecutor Office.

Colleagues of the two prosecutors say that their dismissal is directly connected to a personnel overhaul at the Prosecutor General’s Office after the resignation of Prosecutor General Vladimir Ustinov.

The new Prosecutor General Yury Chaika has already changed deputy prosecutors general and heads of the Office’s departments.
