Fed Council Speaker Stakes on Regional Roads at Elections
Federation Council Speaker Sergey Mironov arrived in the Lipetsk-town yesterday. Mironov, who is also the leader of Russia’s Party of Life, tops the party’s list for elections to the Regional Council that Lipetsk will hold October 8.
It is the second time that the Federation Council’s Speaker Sergey Mironov visits Lipitsk this year. The target of both trips is actually the same – Mironov meets electorate in this town of Russia.

Not willing to waste even a minute of his two-day tour, Mironov focused on the local concerns fresh from the plane. One of the most vital purposes of his trip, the speaker said in the airport, is promoting the agreement of Lipetsk and Tula regions with Russia’s Road Construction Agency about completing construction of the highway on their border.

According to Mironov, his interest in the Lipetsk region could be attributed to its leading standing in social development, including improvement of demographic situation, in addition to economic advance. But the root cause of the speaker’s activity is probably elections to the Regional Council. If the Russia’s Party of Life is backed up in the region, the speaker will have a weighty argument for making it basic in the consolidation effort with the Pensioner Party and Rodina.
