Putin Meets Spanish King
Russian President Vladimir Putin met King of Spain Juan Carlos I at his residence of Bocharov Ruchey, outside Sochi yesterday.
The purpose of the visit was not announced. The king was said to have come to Sochi at Vladimir Putin’s personal invitation.
The city of Sochi bids to host 2014 Winter Olympics. The Russian president tries to use all possible means to promote the city. The King of Spain is a great sports fan, so his impression of Sochi may prove to be quite valuable when the issue is raised at the International Olympic Committee.
In response to the latest developments, Juan Carlos I expressed condolences over the plane crash of a Russian jet in Ukraine.
