WPP Reports Russia’s Revenues
The world second advertiser, the UK WPP has reported the $29-million sales generated by its Russia’s divisions in the first half of this year. The results score WPP only the third in Russia, placing it behind French Publicis and Russia’s ADV.
Even though WPP Group has continuously called Russia the state of priority, the H1 yield generated here turned out much more modest than posted on other vital markets. It was just $29 million (0.54 percent of the overall revenues of WPP) vs. $88 million earned in India, $156 million in Brazil and $207 million in China.

WPP Group is the first global communication major that has unveiled revenues of Russia’s divisions. Judging by its report, the indicators have won the leading standing on the ad market of Russia, making it the first in buying mass media ads. But in terms of the aggregate revenues, the players point out, WPP is overwhelmed by other blockbasters. French Publicis Groupe, for instance, reported more than $66.5-million revenues generated in the first half-year on developing markets of Europe, including Russia.

There is no separate information on Russia in Publicis report, nevertheless, Media Arts Group President Ilya Slutsky is sure “our country accounts for approximately a half of $66.5 million”. Other big player, ADV, counts on attaining the clients’ commission of more than $70 million this year. “In view of all segments of communication business, media service, creating, BTL, we think the leading trio is as follows: ADV, Publicis, WPP,” said Irina Vasenina, deputy chairperson of ADV BOD.
