Turkish Constructors Poisoned by Russian Meat
Three hospitals of Moscow and a hospital of the Moscow region accepted for treatment 144 constructors, mostly the Turkish nationals, Tuesday. The diagnosis was food poisoning. Of constructors, 50 worked on the site of demolished Intourist Hotel, Tverskaya St., Moscow, and the other 94 arrived from the town of Pushkin, the Moscow region.
“We have accepted 26 men with similar symptoms – low pressure, vomiting, liquid stool, weakness,” said Nadezhda Voevodina, chief physician at the 4th Municipal Hospital of Moscow.
The constructors that live in Ostankino Hotel had macaroni with minced meat, shashlik and fried eggplants for dinner. “The cause of poisoning was the meat of poor quality,” said Dmitry Bychenko from Botkinskaya Hospital, Moscow. His words were confirmed by Moscow Chief Sanitation Physician Nikolay Filatov.
According to doctors, GRM-Stroy, which is the general constructor for the site on Tverskaya St., has entered into a contract with a private firm for supplying food to constructors.
GRM-Stroy representatives couldn’t be reached for comment yesterday. Meanwhile, the Federal Service on Consumer Rights Supervision decided to launch a large-scale inspection of public catering enterprises.
