Oil Shipment Half as Much in Druzhba
In the wake of past week’s breakdown, Transneft’s Druzhba Pipelines dropped five fold the pressure in the Bryansk region’s section of the facility, lowering the oil shipment nearly two fold as a result. Key clients of Transneft - Rosneft and LUKOIL - may monthly lose up to $290 million on this section of Druzhba.
The breakdown on the Bryansk region’s section of Druzhba happened Saturday morning and the experts of Federal Service for Supervising Natural Resources (Rosprirodnadzor) were there already on Monday. As much as 487 defects were revealed at the 70km section from Unech to Belarus’ border, said Oleg Mitvol, deputy head of Federal Service for Supervising Natural Resources.
In the next move, the Service ordered Transneft to drop pressure five fold to the minimal level and keep it that low till all drawbacks are eliminated. “It is not an oil pipeline. It is a clutch pipeline,” Mitvol was emphatic.
Transneft duly obeyed the order of the supervisory authorities, which means that section of the pipeline operates at half as much efficiency now. The parties affected are Lithuanian Mazeikiu Nafta and Russia’s key exporters via Transneft – Rosneft and LUKOIL.
