South Butovo Conflict to Be Immortalized
Russia’s government and Moscow authorities eventually acknowledged legal problems, which triggered a brawl around South Butovo village. Moreover, they are ready to tackle them.
Russia’s government will focus today on amendments to the Land Code in part of allotments reserved for construction purposes.

In this respect, the statement of Moscow cabinet is worth mentioning. The city’s ministers pledged to spearhead amendments to the Land Code that would define construction of social dwellings on reserved land as a matter of state need.

The latest big brawl related to reservation of land and eviction of locals has broken out in the Moscow village of South Butovo. There, the owners of private houses challenge the bureaucrats, who are withdrawing the land in the village for construction of new dwellings, as it is the matter of state need, says the ruling of Moscow cabinet.

The tricky point is that, in today’s revision, the Land Code mentions no need of the state to establish social dwellings and confiscate the land for this purpose.
