Video International Calculates Region’s Commercials Growth
Video International Trend released data on Russian regions’ TV commercials for the beginning of 2006 yesterday.
Moscow-based Video International Trend released statistics on regional television commercials in Russia Wednesday. The number of regional TV commercials grew 29.1 percent in the first quarter of 2006, up to 3.78 billion rubles from 2.93 billion rubles in the period last year. The share of regional commercials comes to 22.7 percent in the total spending of television advertisers, Video International Trend calculated.

Analysts at Video International Trend believe that commercials budgets are now flowing to regions. “It is mainly due to the fact that advertisers optimize their commercials budgets as new technology has started to be used in regions [e.g, sales depending on viewers’ ratings rather than TV time],” the company’s report runs. Experts also account the growth for the new draft of the law On Advertising which limits time for TV adverts on federal television channels.
