Public Chamber to Establish Back Link to the Govt
Russia’s PM Mikhail Fradkov, his deputies Dmitry Medvedev and Alexander Zhukov canvassed the interaction procedures with Public Chamber’s leaders yesterday. The government’s concern is to urge Public Chamber to arrange a feedback link with society when it comes to fulfilling the national programs.
The government stands ready to render all assistance to Public Chamber and to jointly look for the ways to settle the most burning issues of social and economic development in Russia, Fradkov told Public Chamber’s Secretary Yevgeny Velikhov, his deputy Sergey Katyrin and to Vladimir Fedosov, head of the Public Chamber’s bylaws commission, who showed up in the White House Wednesday. Members of Public Chamber “felt interested attitude of the cabinet,” Katyrin said after the meeting.

As usual, Fradkov was explicit yesterday. The PM recommended Public Chamber’s officials to act in view of the opportunities ripe to be seized rather than target the impossible. In particular, the cabinet counts on Public Chamber to fuel the national programs.

In Public Chamber, the national programs are the prerogative of Maria Slobodskaya’s commission. Slobodskaya said they are busy setting up a network of public monitoring over the national programs. Each region will have a council of public activists that will arrange meetings with benefit receivers, including teachers, doctors etc., so that they could discuss progress in national programs. Therefore, once some target addressees see no money allocated, they will be always able to speak out.
